Some not-so-random things on my radar this week:
Join us this Sunday at 5pm for a new worship time in Webb Chapel! It’s been a year, almost to the very day, since you asked for it—remember last year at our “Get Involved Expo?” Not everybody can always make it to church on Sunday mornings—sports, business, life, and jam-packed calendars—this crazy life!
Patrick and I have planned a very casual and intimate time of worship on Sunday evenings to give you a time other than Sunday morning for church. Think casual and “unplugged” church with some breathing room and space to recharge. Let’s go to Romanelli’s after church Sunday night for dinner and hang out! I can’t wait!
Tomorrow morning (Thursday 11/2), we’re meeting for breakfast at 8am at the Nautilus to hang out and catch up. Bring some good news to share because we can all use it! Even if you didn’t RSVP, come anyway! We’ll figure it out. Good fun, good news, good food. Can’t beat it!
Next Tuesday night (11/7 @ 7:30pm) at our house, we’re starting a quickie 3-week book study. Author Brian McLaren says Christian faith is not dying—it is embarking on a once-in-an-era spiritual shift. We get it! We’re living that shift right now in our church.
What does being Christian look like in Madison in 2017? Let’s talk about it in conversation with McLaren’s book: The Great Spiritual Migration: How the World's Largest Religion Is Seeking a Better Way to Be Christian. 235 Greenwood Avenue. Bring wine to share if you like, and read thru Part One.
Join us for the next #BelovedCommunity Conversation here at PCM, Wednesday, November 8, at 7pm in Fellowship Hall. The theme for this conversation is “Cultivating Compassion.” Come join a growing conversation with a growing number of people from Madison about building community and hospitality through greater understanding and the celebration of our differences. We are all so different together!
Beloved Community is a vision of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.
That’s just what’s on my calendar—the stuff I’m directly involved in for the next few days. Come be a part of any or all of it. Super-fun. Lotta stuff going on!
Grace and peace,
ps. Where did Fall finally come from? I feel it on my bald head, first! And, Daylight Saving Time ends on Saturday night. I doubt your phone will let you forget to set the clocks back. At least it will feel like we got an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning—see you then!
